Mrs Dobrila Kostić graduated from the five-year Teacher Training School "Želimir Đurić" in Užice in 1970 and has been teaching the Serbian language to children and adults in the United Kingdom for 45 years, making her likely the most experienced Serbian language teacher in the UK. She began gaining her vast teaching experience in the 1970s in Australia, where her husband, Father Milun Kostić, had come as a young priest. There, Protinica taught Serbian to students at the University of Melbourne and to Australian diplomats at Monash University. She founded a church Sunday school for the Serbian language with over 180 students. When the Kostić family moved to London in 1977, Dobrila joined the St. Sava Church Sunday School, which was founded in 1962. In addition to teaching at the school, Dobrila was preparing children for the O- and A-level exams in Serbian. She also taught British diplomats who were posted to Yugoslavia and Serbia. Protinica Kostić has taught Serbian to our children not only in London but also in Oxford, Reading and Leicester. She also teaches Serbian to children aged 12 to 17 at a school run by the Round Table of Serbian Organisations in the UK in collaboration with the Azbukum Center in Serbia. At the St. Sava Church Sunday School in London, Dobrila conducts Serbian language classes for first- and second-grade children in classrooms. Starting from the 2024/2025 school year, her work at the school is funded by the Ministry of Education and follows the supplementary education program of the Republic of Serbia.  

Jelena (Vasčanin) Đorđijevski was born in Vukovar and grew up in Vrdnik near Novi Sad, Serbia. She graduated from the College of Vocational Studies for Teacher Education in Novi Sad. During her studies, she gained experience by doing professional internships and volunteering in preschool institutions. She worked with children of younger and preschool age. After that, she enrolled in the Faculty of Education in Sombor, where she graduated and obtained the title of graduate teacher. Jelena has been living in London for ten years, and in 2017 she was a teacher at the Church School of St. Sava in London. She believes that Serbian language schools are necessary for children born abroad, not only to teach them the Serbian language but also to familiarise them with Serbian culture and customs. From the 2023/2024 school year, Jelena's work in the school has been supported by the Serbian Ministry of Education and she is teaching following the programme of 'dopunska nastava'. 

Jelena Obradović studied Serbian Language and Yugoslav Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Priština. Unfortunately, she had to interrupt her studies due to the war in Kosovo and Metohija. She then worked as a paediatric nurse for 10 years and has experience working with children with autism. Currently, she works as a teaching assistant at a private school in London (Knightsbridge School). She has completed the Azbukum training course for Serbian language instructors. Jelena has been living in London since 2007, she is married and has two sons, who have completed the Azbukum course equivalent to A-level proficiency in Serbian. Jelena teaches the youngest pupils in our classrooms in London.

Tamara Vojvodić was born and raised in Belgrade. She earned a degree in philology and became a Professor of English at the Department of English Studies at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. After her studies, she worked for twelve years as a translator at Electric Power Industry of Serbia, gaining extensive experience in translating in the fields of law, economics, energy, and mining. Recently, Tamara has moved to London with her family, where she works as an Academic Mentor at Ealing Fields High School in Ealing. As of September 2024, she has also become a teacher at the St. Sava Church School, where she teaches Serbian language courses for adult learners, from beginner to advanced levels. She greatly appreciates the interest of each course participant in learning Serbian language, as this promotes the culture and customs of the Serbian people. She believes that with a positive attitude towards learning and a comprehensive approach, both through discussions on current topics and reading contemporary Serbian literature, along with the application of grammatical rules, success in learning Serbian language is guaranteed. From the 2025/2026 school year, Tamara's work in the school has been supported by the Serbian Ministry of Education and she is teaching following the programme of 'dopunska nastava'. 

Milka Sholaya, born in London, studied English literature at the University of Cambridge followed by screenwriting at the National Film and Television. She now teaches secondary school English and Film. She was a choral exhibitioner in the Christ’s College, Cambridge choir with which she toured Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. She recorded two CDs as a soprano in the choir. Milka currently sings in our St. Sava church choir in London. When needed she provides cover for the teachers at the St. Sava Church School in London. Milka was interviewed on Montenegrin National television in 2013 on the programme ‘Više od ljeta’ regarding her translation of an excerpt from Njegoš’s ‘Gorski Vjenac’. Milka then translated the extended children’s poem ‘Hedgeworth’s House’ by Branko Ćopić. She won the Telegraph’s Cassandra Jardine prize in 2018 with a witty essay exploring her granny’s understanding and interpretation of modern dietary requirements. Milka is currently writing a screenplay titled ‘Drunken Isidor’ inspired by her aunt’s favourite cake. Going forward, she plans to adapt folk tales for the screen.

Slađana Stevanović is a teacher from Republika Srpska who has been living and working in England for ten years. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2008 in Bijeljina, Republika Srpska, earning a degree as a Professor of Primary Education and English Language for lower primary school grades at the Faculty of Education. In 2014, at the same faculty, she defended her master’s thesis on the topic "Written Assignments in Serbian Language Teaching," earning the title of Master of Primary Education. During the 2008/2009 school year, she worked as an English teacher at the foreign language school "Anglia V" in Bijeljina. From 2010 to 2015, she worked as a primary school teacher at "Stevan Nemanja" Elementary School in Gornji Dragaljevac, Municipality of Bijeljina. After relocating with her family to England, she has been teaching Serbian at "Srpskaonica," a Serbian language school in Reading, since 2016. In 2019, she completed the Azbukum training course for teachers. Starting from the 2023/2024 school year, her work has been funded by the Ministry of Education, and she teaches according to the supplementary education program of the Republic of Serbia. Slađana conducts classes in Oxford, Birmingham, and Reading, as well as online.
