Awards for our pupils at the Cyrillic Days Festival 2026
The Cyrillic Days event in Bavanište was established in 2002 with the aim of preserving and nurturing one of the most important features of our identity: the Serbian script and cultural tradition.
Through literary works, penmanship, calligraphy, embroidery, illustration and folklore performances, Cyrillic Days encourages creativity and promotes values that connect the past and the future. The event has become a well-known cultural occasion in Serbia and the region, symbolising togetherness and love for the Cyrillic alphabet. It is supported by the Municipality of Kovin and the Ministry of Education.
The organisers of this competition pay special attention to initials – artistically decorated first letters of students’ names. It was through work on this theme that second-grade pupils of the Serbian Supplementary School at St Sava School, taught by teacher Jelena Đorđijevski, achieved notable success.
Sofija Lužajić won first place for her decorated initial, while her classmate Klara Poleksić was commended for her creative work. Congratulations to Sofija and Klara, and to their teacher Jelena. We wish them much inspiration, success and many more awards in the future.
